Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions. We have answers.

How do I sign up for a class?

Sign up by calling or registering online. You will find a calendar of classes at the back of the hard-copy catalog, or by clicking here. Call 208-373-1809 or online at Registration begins August 22.

What are class fees for?

Class fees cover all upfront supplemental expenses (such as materials, rentals, admission, etc.) associated with a class. Most fees are non-refundable. You will not be charged a class fee if you are on a wait-list. If a spot opens on the wait-list, you’ll be able to pay the class fee when you register.

How many classes are available?

For $35, you’ll get access to unlimited classes — and you can choose from more than 80 class selections! Most students sign up for an average of 5-10 classes. Some classes fill up quickly, so don’t put off signing up.

The class I want to take is full. Is there a wait-list?

If the class you sign up for is full, we’ll add you to a wait-list. We will do our best to accommodate unexpectedly large enrollments by expanding class size, scheduling additional classes, and replacing cancellations with wait-listed members. If you’re interested in a class, please check back for new class selections — if possible, we will add additional sections to high-demand classes.

Is it possible that my class might change times, dates, or locations?

Yes. We might need to reschedule or move classes for a variety of reasons, such as instructor illness or last-minute venue complications. If that happens, we’ll be sure to call you beforehand to alert you. You can always check online for verification.

What if I can't make a class?

If you’re unsure about whether you’ll be able to attend a class, don’t sign up — you could be taking the spot of someone who really wants to attend. Wait until your schedule is clear. If you need to drop out for any reason, let us know as soon as possible so another person from the wait list can take your place. Call 208-373-1809. This number is only staffed M – F 8:00 – 5:00.

Will parking be available?

Free parking will be available for most classes, but please check with special venues and plan accordingly. Parking is free at all YMCA locations and ISU-Meridian on Saturday only. At AARP Idaho, parking is free up to two hours in the visitor lot. If the visitor lot is full, ample paid street/lot parking is available in the vicinity. Come prepared to pay for street parking.

How can I tell if I'm supposed to attend all the classes listed or just one?

In the hard copy catalog, Sequential classes — meaning classes that you have to take in order — are listed like this: September 16, 18, 20. Sequential classes are also marked by an icon that looks like ‘3 stacked sheets of paper’. Classes that are not sequential — meaning you can choose which date you’d like to attend — are listed like this:
September 16
September 18
September 20
